The Beaumont Police Department has identified the driver who survived a head-on crash that killed two teens Sunday morning.

Antonio De Jesus Delgado, 22 of Beaumont, was a driver in the major crash that occurred shortly after 2 a.m. in the 2400 block of S. Martin Luther King.

Police said Delgado was driving a black Chevrolet truck, which was traveling north in the southbound lanes, when he crashed into a gray Nissan Altima.

Clyde Thompson and Tonysha Lashay Smith, both 19, were killed as a result of the crash. Delgado was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries, the release said.

“Detectives are continuing the investigation and alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor to this accident,” Beaumont PD previously said.

Charges are pending but have not yet been filed. No further information was available by press time.
